Two things here first have a mamma that leaves her 4 week old chicks just left them gone all day. I waited checked on them all day making sure they were well guarded and ok in the extreme heat. Come evening no mamma so I prepared to collect them got to the last one the there she is ready to do mamma. Ok I gave them to her and off to there coop they go. Next morning same thing shes off with the flick without chicks. That night same thing except this time I've already got chicks in a old dog carrying case In a safe place before she hears them and comes. She doesn't show any interest in there wellbeing durng daylight hours. even as they give a destress call I come running but she doesn't until after dark. How should I handle this keep doing what I have been or is it time to take them away. I have two flocks one free ranging and the new ones at 10 weeks in a coop and run. Very friendly hand raised. So integrating the 4 week olds right now isn't a safe option but may be in the future. Second thing anyone know what they are? Mom and pop are supposed to be black jersey giants but aren't the size described I'll attach pictures of all mom and pop and babies

It sounds like she's weaning them. There's nothing for you to do, all is as

They look like Jersey Giants to me! My only other guess would be black Australorp. Have you weighed them?
I'd say the hen is about 5lds the roster was 8 but has gotten bigger they are just about 1 year old her hiding eggs was in the plan yet. But it was in her plan

4 weeks is on the younger side, but within the expected timeframe. At this point they'll be just fine without her tending them. Some hens just like to start weaning earlier than others (don't blame them, I tend to go for getting them outside and integrated early as well lol)
