Hi there, I found one of my hens ( a Calico Princess ) with huge areas of her feathers gone this afternoon. Feathers are everywhere, my other 4 are just fine. The roo is fine. I did a deep clean of the coop and run yesterday, it took most of the day and they all stayed inside while I worked outside. I know they were stressed over the clean. But I didn't think she would end up losing her feathers. She has no covering. I need advice. Does she need to come in until she gets them back or just stay in her place that she knows. There are also wild roos coming around outside the run and she sees them argue and fight, could that be a stressor? She is 18 mos old.

She's just molting, totally normal this time of year. I would lean towards no on bringing her in but observe her behavior to determine whether she is too cold. If she is visibly acting cold then obviously step in but otherwise just let her be. Only change I'd make is switching to an all flock if you don't feed that already as she doesn't need the extra calcium in layer feed rn. Just have crushed oyster shell on the side for anyone still laying otherwise she'll be fine and will regrow those feathers in time

Thank you, and I have been doing all flock as well as laying since we got cold.
