hen lost her only chick, what will she do?

Our hen's only chick died today. I'm not sure why, I just found it dead out where they free range. What will she do without a chick?

She might cry for a couple of days. She'll run around looking for it, unless she knows that it's gone. The roo will pretty much start mating her immediately. She'll be ok. How is she acting now?

she's walking about doing her mother clucking, but she doesn't seem very distressed.

Awww! Well I hope she gets to be a momma again.

Yeah, she's sad. It's to be expected. It's heartbreaking, but she'll be back to chicken in a day or two.

I would go and get her another chick or two...
