My poor Jersey Giant is on her way out. This morning she was still on the roost and had her eyes closed. She was not very alert but I didn't really think anything of it. So I left her on the roost. I just went out to check the eggs and she was layout face down in the coop. I talked to her and her eyes were slightly open. I went in and picked her up. She's still alive but is like paralyzed. And had drool coming out of her mouth. I picked her up got the droll slime gunk out of her mouth and dipped her beak in water, and she wouldn't drink. I set her back down in the coop and she is totally lifeless. My heart is very heavy for this poor girl. I wish I could help but there's nothing I can do and I know she's on her way out. Any ideas why so sudden?? I gave her a ton of love and want her passing to be quick... :(

I would try draining her crop. Before you do, feel her crop and see if it feels like a water ballon. If so, gentally tilt her upside down and massage her crop. Hopefully the substance inside will come out through her mouth. Then pour some apple cider vinegar in their water or you can give it by mouth to her. After that, the next day, give her some yogurt. I wish you the best.

Is she by any chance puffed up? Like her feathers are puffed? Also are they pooping blood?

She passed away 10 minutes after I was trying to help her

. But she lived a good life free Ranging on the Smith Farm...

I'm also so sorry to hear of the outcome - she was well loved by you and she knew it, you could not have done any more to help her - she is at peace now and my thoughts are for you right now - take comfort in the fact that she gave you so much pleasure... in time your memories will be of the great times you shared with her.
