Hen or Roo....and breed!

Hey guys,
Trying to get my suburban flock combo just right. Looking at my three week old chicks I'm starting to suspect that this guy may be a roo. The waddles are pretty red, but from what I can gather this isn't a sure determination, but there not a lot of tail definition either. Hoping more knowledge peeps (ha get it..peeps) can help me out. Thanks. Oh and I'm curious if anyone can guess the breed, the other chick I got from the same bin was an Americana or EE. Thanks again.

I believe it is an EE, it has the same markings as mine. I also think it’s a hen because of the rounded feathers.

The cocking looks female but the comb and wattle development is making me wonder. Wait a few weeks and then repost pictures.

Agree with Brahma 5000. Your best bet is to try again at 7 weeks or so. If the chick has rapid development of comb and/or wattles, then it is likely a cockerel.

If it was in the Easter egger bin, then it is probably that, even though it lacks the typical beard and pea comb. Or maybe an olive egger or black sex link. Time will tell.

Also agree with @Brahma Chicken5000 and with @JedJackson

Don't judge on the shape or points of the feathers yet, at this point there's no male or female feathering anyway. That doesn't happen until chicken puberty, about 12 weeks old.
