Out little Polish cross babies are 7 weeks old now and we have a definite 6 roos and 4 hens. There's one however I've been saying roo for about 2 weeks but he's not progressing like his siblings. His comb is bigger than the girls and is slightly red but dark not like his brothers that have big and very red combs and wattles.
Would love to know your thoughts on this baby. Have added some with his siblings too so you can see.
Any opinions would be great please

It's a tough call on that one, but I suspect it is a cockerel. One thing to keep in mind is that it is bearded, and bearded birds often don't show much or any wattle growth. So we're going by comb here, and it looks more developed than I'd expect for a pullet at 7 weeks.

Best to wait and see, because it is a close call for sure.

That's great info about the breed thank you!!
It's the neighbours old roo that's gone now we don't own Polish so not familiar with feather type etc. There's one other roo that's bearded (the rest take after mum) I'll find a pic of him.

This is both bearded boys in the same photo. Casper the bigger one is super red but his wattles are much smaller than the non bearded ones. You can see here on Draco the Roo in question does have wattles? His skin is darker than the other one so maybe to do with that?

Frustrating but bargaining on him being a Roo and he will stay here with us either way :)

In general, redness isn't going to appear in combs, wattles or faces of pullets until they are in the run up to laying, which happens much later in their development, 15+ weeks. It can happen but rarely. Hope I am wrong about this one, though.

I'm thinking I got it right then. The pullets have no redness at all. 4 hens 7 roos 🤦‍♀️😂
This is one if the girls

I, too, am unsure of the bird in question.
I would update again on 2 weeks.

Have you tried looking for saddle feathers?
They may be too young to have saddle feathers, but I figure it couldn't hurt..

Just wanted to post an update as its been nearly 3 weeks.
Definitely a Rooster which I was not shocked about. He's a motley little thing lol
But will stay here in a Bachelor pad (not for breeding just a pet) with his brothers as I've gotten attached to them all .... oops

Here's a recent photo
