No I have over 50 chickens at the moment. Granddaughter has named some but not these. The black looks like a cockerel, the brown I think is a pullet.
All of my chickens, male and female, have ‘spur buds’, or little bumps.
The signs on the black one is the rounder, redder comb, and a bit more pointy on the saddle and hackle feathers.
Could be wrong though, it’s been a while since I’ve helped out with gender-guessing.
They’re beautiful though! Do they have names?
My Amerecaunas have barely any comb. That’s another reason I can’t tell. Plus they have pointy saddle feathers.I'm thinking they might be both pullets. The comb on the black one is still small at age 16 weeks. I believe she's just getting pinker because she's maturing. I see rounded feathers, however, the lighting and distance make it hard to confirm if there's any male specific feathering. A clearer pic or the black one showing the body would be nice.
Can you take a closer photo of the saddle area?My Amerecaunas have barely any comb. That’s another reason I can’t tell. Plus they have pointy saddle feathers.
These 2 are 16 weeks old. I have 25 babies and I believe most are roosters. I don’t see bumps where the spurs would come in. The other ones that I know are roosters have begun to crow. Can someone tell me how to tell?
