I have seen a rooster charge another rooster while that rooster was mating to knock the rooster off. It seems quite common when the mating rooster is not the top rooster. It is actually quite funny.

I saw a hen peck at another hen’s head twice while a rooster was on top of that hen. It seemed to interrupt the mating. Is this a pecking order thing or an attempt to interrupt mating or both?

I have a hen that hang out with the rooster more than the other hens.
A pullet came into the scene and whenever the rooster mates with her, the hen that hang out with him a lot peck at the pullet. Only she does that, no other hens bothered. I think it is jealousy..I am only guessing. She is the only hen gets jealous, the rest of the flock does not bother at all.

That rooster passed away, this jealous hen has been very sad since and it has been almost a year now. She is quiet, and spend most of the time alone. She had friends before, but since he passed she kept to herself.

Edit to correct spelling
