Hi.
i have a 2 year old black hen that has seemed lethargic for the last few weeks. she seems "puffy" and a bit droopy but still runs like the dickens when i try to catch her. Anyways, after holding her for a while today, i let her down and about 5 minutes later, i saw egg white dripping from her rear end. she looked pretty uncomfortable, like constipated acting. within another minute, an unformed egg poped out of her. no shell, no membrane, just an egg like you'd see in a frying pan. Seconds later the rest of the flock gobbled it up. she also seems dis interested in being social, only going to the rooster now and again when he is alone. Any idea's? i also don't think i've gotten any eggs from her in a while. I'll need to keep a better eye on the nest box. Thanks.

btw, 4 days ago i lost my beautiful turkey to a racoon.

:(

It sounds like she may be egg bound. I don't know if this happens to turkeys, but it does happen to chickens. The best thing you can do is keep an eye on her, and read up on egg bound chickens. If she starts acting funny again, I would suggest giving her a warm bath, this calms her down and relaxes her vent, so the egg can pass.

You should also separate her from the rest of your flock, and put her in a warm dark room, this will help calm her down. Good Luck!!
