My Rhode Island hen keeps making noises when she enters a nesting box with other hens eggs. This morning I saw her removing other eggs out from the nesting box.

Is this weird or normal ? She does have other nesting boxes but refuses to lay any in them.

That is odd! I think she might be singing the egg song? Not sure if it's the proper name but it kind of goes "bok bok bok bok-GAWK." I've heard it's her announcing that she's about to lay or just finished laying an egg. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Is she laying at all? And when you say "removing them" does that mean shoving them to the ground or eating them or something else? Perhaps she is broody and trying to collect them all to sit on? Beats me really

Some hens love a clean nest box and will remove any other eggs that are of a different colour or shape than their own.

At the moment I have a very friendly and productive young Amrock mix hen that is acting as a self appointed nest manager and will constantly control the two nest boxes moving all the eggs around and burying them under the bedding. She will even join the other hens in the boxes every time trying to control their laying and move their eggs and her own so much that with all the pushing and shoving and in and out of the nest boxes, and of course a few short trips to the poop board in between, she gets the eggs quite dirty.

I will move her to the other much bigger flock tonight as a last resort in hope that this will stop her obsessive behaviour.

She lays eggs. She enters nesting box and pushes the egg out 🤣😂 never hurts the egg though. Just weird behavior.
