One of the Roos took a special liking to my Cream Legbar. Her back was quickly becoming featherless. Put a saddle on her, not only protecting her back during mating the Roo seems not interested in her with the saddle on. Maybe not his color? Saddle is khaki, and he seems to prefer grey hens but any color will do in a pinch. Have not seen him mate her once since I put the saddle on as opposed to multiple times a day.?

Lucky her !! Leave it alone maybe she’ll get a break so her feathers can grow back. He can seriously hurt her, my roo sliced my hens under the wings ... watch then carefully

Yes I am hoping he stays off her but if he can't the saddle will protect her back. How long for feathers to grow back?

My understanding is when they moult , new feathers grow . If she has many ripped feathers they have to come out first.

My roosters been gone a month and my hens are getting pin feathers now makes me so happy
