I heard one of my older 7 year old golden campines in the nesting boxes earlier make this scary painful sounding scream earlier today. It was just for a second or two, and then a few mins later I heard it again. I went over and there was no egg yet, but when I went back out a few hours later it was there. I wish I could've recorded it, but does anyone know what it could mean? Or causes?

Seven is pretty old for a laying hen, I'm surprised she's still going. I'd imagine things get a little painful as she gets older. She might need a little extra calcium to help her.

Yeah all of our old hens are seven now 😁 got them when we first started chicken keeping! They're grannies but definitely enjoy living life. I was thinking the same too, poor things
