My bantam EE layed her first egg 3 weeks ago and then proceeded to lay an egg just about every day for 2 weeks. Suddenly, about a week ago she stopped laying. When she was laying it was unseasonably warm and now it is well below freezing. Could that be why she stopped? Any ideas?

So what temps and daylight will they start again? My Sussex stopped, molted and has not re-started since about October...

You can put a light in their pen to help. I have timers in my new chicken barn, I have the timers set for 3:30 am to 7:30 am every day. All my chickens are about the same age, the pullets with light are laying great. I have 2 pens out front without light and I am not getting any eggs from those 2 pens, so the light does make a difference. Usually when the days get longer, the chickens will start laying again. They need about 14 hours of daylight to keep laying.

I would say 12 hours or more of daylight, or at least a little daylight. My hens are still laying now and we are getting about 8 hours of daylight and its about 30 degrees here. It all depends on your chickens and how healthy and comfortable they are.
