My Silver Laced Wyandotte died at around 2 a.m this morning checking he camera. I didnt notice this until a few hours ago as ive been showing at the fair all week and left early this morning.
She would be 3 in March, she was healthy as far is i knew. I regularly check my chickens for illnesses, cuts, etc. She layed a egg yesterday.
She fell off the roost forward and landed straight down. Watching right before on the camera she had almost lost her balance. then not even 30 minutes later had fallen down. Her legs were straight out. Comb was more of a purple/pale.
I do still have her and havent burried her yet. And can do a autopsy. But my question will i know what caused this by doing a autopsy by myself? I don't want to do a autopsy if this wont tell me what happened.
The newest photo i have of her from a few weeks ago

It depends on the cause whether or not it would be obvious. I have done home necropsies and could usually guess what might have happened. If you do one take pictures of the major organs, especially liver, intestines, gizzard, any excessive fat or blood clots, and if there is any yellow fluid that comes out. Sorry for your loss.
