Hi all
So, quick question! I just observed my non-egg laying hen resting in her fav dirt spot.. her backend was kind of moving up and down, kind of like if you squeezed your butt cheeks together 😆.. her tail feathers were going up and down… She didn’t seem stressed or in pain, is this just a normal behaviour? I know it probably sounds weird, I just haven’t seen this before… I have a video, just trying to load, hopefully it works…Chook butt moving up and down

Sounds like tail pumping. Caution for first egg, constipation or egg bound but then again with chickens, it might be nothing at all 😏

She hasn’t laid for a long time, we thought it was due to her ill health, which we think we’ve sorted, i wonder if she’s starting to lay again 🤔…. I have noticed less poop than normal in her bed the last few days (she sleeps by herself), might be a bit of constipation… We’ll check her vent area tonight and book her in for a check up if poop amount doesn’t pick up in the next day or two! Thanks for advice x
