Hen to rooster ratio...

Is there a good hen to rooster ratio or does it depend on how aggressive the roosters are?

A formula often seen here is one roo to ten hens. Certainly how rough the roo is on the hens when mating would be a factor. Also, it is not unusual for breeders to keep a breeding pair or a trio with two hens and one roo. Like so many things chicken, a lot depends on the individual chickens.

I have one rooster with 11 hens and all my eggs are always fetrile. I have had as many as 5 roosters with 20 hens though with no fighting or anything.
