Hi,
I posted a few weeks ago about my hen laying very large eggs and now my worst fears have come true. This morning i discovered quite a bit of blood and mucusy stuff coming from her bottom. I called the chicken guy at the feed store who said that she will either pass the egg eventually and heal up, or she will prolapse and die. I see no signs of prolapse but she has spent the entire day on or near the nesting box, being very quiet, closing her eyes a lot. No progress has been made on the egg.
Is there anything i can do? Is this something that any vet could help with? I don't know of any vet who treats chickens, but i would be willing to take her to one if there is a simple remedy.
Thanks.
