I have a BR hen (almost 2 yrs old) who is walking very slowly, sitting a lot...not eating much or drinking since she has to stand to do so....thought she might be egg bound, so I brought her in and gave her a good 20 minute soak, which she loved once she settled....dunked her head in and drank a lot....pecked at the nearby aloe etc....
After her soak, I wrapped her in a towel, and turned her over, massaged oil all over her vent then held my breath and 'violated her'
to see if there was an egg in there....felt nothing, but oiled her up good inside while we were at it....while I was probing, she eliminated...no bad odor (I resisted the term FOWL odor
, but couldn't resist telling you I did!
)
I put her back in the hen house, and she exited, but is pretty quiet....mostly laying in the sun....I did notice that she's limping a bit...favoring her right foot, so I'll go see if there's any bumble foot...but she is also holding her wings away from her body in a weird way too...kind of hunched up, but her tail is still up......? Last night she had a milky discharge when I put her in the hen house (she hadn't gone with the rest, so I had to lure her with some scratch....when she got close, I picked her up and lifted her in), but no sign of discharge today....Any ideas? (BTW they free range in case that matters)
