I just went down to the coop to shut up my chickens and one of my Black Australorps was in a nesting box trying to sleep. I crouched down to check on her and her right eye was all closed and bloody
her comb was damaged too but looks like it'll be fine. I feel so bad for her it must hurt so bad. I brought her up to the house and tried to rinse the eye out with some saline contact lenses solution I have.
The eye is still there, just injured. I suspect that it might have been my rooster that hurt her with his spurs as he isn't very fond of my three Australorp ladies because they don't let him mount them. I've had them for a few years now but I did see him attack one of them when she had bumblefoot six months back and was moving slower.
He's a good boy...he just can be kind of vengeful to the Australorps occasionally. I trimmed his spurs after the last incident.
Any ideas on what I can do to help her eye? I have some antibiotic eye cream for humans that I got from a neighbor lady once, I'll post a pic. I used it before when a hen got pecked on the eye.
I want to do everything I can for her. I've got her in a cage by herself for the night so I can easily check on her in the morning.
