Hey I have hured of hens with spurs but I have a hen that a friend gave me about a month ago...
She had too long nails but I left it alone tell tonight... while clipping her nails I noticed that she has one spur that pouts some of my rosters to shame... I was wondering if I should do something about it. Its sharting to grow up words

You can look up videos on how to use pliers to twist the outer keratin sheath off of the spur. I would do that. That spur could cause her trouble if you don't shorten it.

I have a hen who's spur pointed straight down. She's a very large hen and has always weighed more than any of my males. I didn't notice until it was too late but that spur had been driving into her fourth toe. When I started to see blood everywhere and investigated that's when I found that the spur was damaging her toe. It has since been removed and the toe has healed.

One of my hens has a spur that grows up and curls towards the leg.
I clip it occasionally with big dog clippers, luckily never drew blood and it keeps the spur down. She’s easy to handle and sticks around for some treats afterwards
