Hen with pale comb, gasping motion (video included)

Just wanted to update. She tucked into her mash and electrolyte water nicely this morning. She seems subdued, but no worse than yesterday. The beak breathing is nearly entirely gone--it is only very occasional now and not so dramatic, either (her beak isn't opening as widely; just a tiny bit).

She is still in the garage where it's warmer overnight. I want her to be able to rest. Come free range time for the others, I'll move her setup outdoors for a bit and be able to give her a fuller examination.

glad to hear she seems to be improving, keep us posted?
so many reports like these right now!

So Queenie went back out a couple of days ago, as she was looking and acting much better and complaining a bit (it was also ridiculously beautiful for January). She is definitely happier and eating more than she had been while in the infirmary, despite missing having all that scrambled egg to herself.

That said, yesterday I noticed her comb looking a touch purple again. She seems happy and active enough, especially free-ranging, but we likely bought just a little more time with her. Queenie may be chasing our collie, who died in September, again pretty soon. :/ (He loved that and often tried loading her into coming after him; it was hilarious.)

Here she is enjoying mash with a friend after being let back out.

ETA I was just out with the mash, and Queenie was dancing back and forth along the fence, ready to chow down. Her comb looked better, too. Chickens!
