Hi, I've got a 6 month old Cochin that had an onset of yellow looking poo a week ago. It was pretty yellow, mustardy in color, and sometimes looked the color of cooked egg. She was still walking and getting around, but was noticeable weaker especially after rooster tried to mate - she wouldn't get up at first. She ate a little but not as much as she should so I separated her. I thought perhaps cocci even though no blood in poo, so treated for 4 days with corid. Her poo did stop looking so yellow after 2 days and she seemed more active the 3rd day and walking around quite a bit. But then the 4th day she went downhill really fast, now won't stand up at all. I treated a hen before who I thought had egg peritonitis (poo looked more eggy though than my Cochin) with penicillan and she made full recovery after 4/5 days. Thinking now perhaps egg peritonitis was the issue I decided to try the penicillan. She's on that now and eating more, and pooing more but still won't stand up. I felt up vent for an egg and didn't feel one, I've been giving epsom salt baths, vitamins, electrolytes, Vitamin B12, herbs you name it off and on since this started. Organic layer food and rooster booster. She does seem to be preening a bit more than normal, so I've looked super good for mites or lice but don't see any. I've sprinkled Diatamacious earth on her fairly liberally just in case. The skin around her vent does seem reddish as if irritated.. but I actually didn't notice that until after giving the DE so worried that is irritating her vent.

Hoping it's just going to be a few more days before everything I've been doing kicks in and she snaps out of it, but wondering if anyone has any other advice. I'm throwing everything I can at this. I have another chicken who I nursed for 3 months back from the brink of death from possible Merek's disease, so I haven't ruled that out but this hens symptoms started much differently so I was hoping for a different (albeit better prognosis). The other was paralyzed with one leg out, limp curled toes etc. but now walks with only a slight tremor. Still small and weaker for her age though and hasn't laid yet. She is separated, but I'm sure all my flock has been exposed at some point. This one seems different because the onset was the yellow poo (and she quit laying).
