I don't know where to put this, but I figured that this was as good a place as any...

I recently realized that one of my 1 year old Barred Rocks has spurs, not big ones, but they are there. About like a 5-7 month old roo's spurs. Any idea what could have caused this? She is low on the pecking order, I don't know if that could have something to do with it or not...

Oh, and before someone asks if it COULD be a roo, no. it can't be. It is fully grown, and there are NO saddle or hackle feathers. Not a chance of that...

Hens can have spurs. I've had several with them, a couple of Orpingtons, a Speckled Sussex, an older Rhode Island Red and now one Ameraucana with obvious Sumatra in her lineage (well, she hatched from a blue Ameraucana egg, but lays a brown egg and looks like a Sumatra). Sumatra hens always have spurs.

Hmmm... OK! Just curious really, I was about to sell her and wanted to make sure that it wasn't a defect! Thank you!
