Hen with stiff butt.

I picked up one of my hens yesterday to feel the back end towards her pelvic bone and it was verrry hard. It felt like a softball inside her and her butt is red. She acts normal but i know this isnt normal. What is it and how do i get rid of it?

She had been roughed up by my roo and so instead of keping her out there I brought her in. She has been laying eggs also. It took her nearly a month to do that though.

I've heard that submerging her hind end in warm water can help if she is eggbound. Has anybody tried this?

Keep in mind that chickens are very tough creatures. They can act normal under a lot of duress.

I might try dipping her into warm water then. Overall shes not acting any different but her butt is just hard and red.

Give her a tums, won't hurt, and will help if she is egg bound. Do you know when she laid last? A pic of her bum will help also. (I can't believe I just asked for that

)
