Hen won't lay in nesting box

She will sit in the box and make herself a little nest, but she won't lay in it. She has a nest built under a bush in the yard where she liks to lay. I blocked it off and she plopped down and layed in the middle of the lawn. Sometimes I swear she is holding it in until I let her out of the coop. She sometimes will lay within minutes of being let out. Is there anything I can do to get her to use the nesting box? That sure would be easier than going on an egg hunt every day.

I was told you could put golf balls or wooden eggs in the boxes as a decoy it worked for one of mine

I don't want her brooding though. Should I just take a couple of her eggs and put in the box for a few days?

what kind is she you can try that it will work as well as the golf ball
