I have 1 rooster and 10 hens. There are occasional squabbles but I'm lucky that everyone gets along. They were all raised from chicks together and are 6 months old.
Recently my hens have been picking the feathers of my rooster's beard, down his throat. Starts right under the beak and all the way down the neck. The hens will walk by taking a peck along the way. He doesn't fuss about it and typically just stands there. He is the strangest sight! A bald streaking down the front, a couple inches across!
I'm surprised they are doing this! He DEFINITELY rules the roost!!!
What is this about? Anyone else ever see this??
