Hens and their eggs

I have 3 hens that will not get out of their nesting box and have been sitting on their 2/3 eggs for a few days now. Usually the hens lay their eggs and then leave them, so I go in a collect them. Not this time.
So would it be ok to try and put straw in the nesting box? For the eggs at least.

Sounds as if they have gone broody - want to become mothers. Straw would help them form a decent nest - hay might be even better.

Would it be ok to move them to a lower nesting box? Cause where they are
Now, the box is off the ground a couple of feet.
