Hens assume strange posture when approached

I'm glad I found this topic.

The girls have been doing this for a couple of weeks now.

I thought they wanted to be scratched under their wings. Like when my dogs roll over to get their belly's scratched.

I learn something new on the site almost everyday.

They think you are a rooster. I give my husband a lot of flack because they never squat for him, and he lets them out every morning and gives them scratch. They squat like crazy for me, and he is a whole lot bigger! Just goes to show you--they really know who is in charge!

Ha ha ha...

Husband thing... cracks me up...

I would get them a roo.... My hens with roos don't do this at all... i guess i see how i rate!!!

The first time my son (about 4 at the time) saw his pet hen do that this is how the conversation went.

Son: Momma what's wrong with my chicky?
Me: Umm she is tired of walking and wants you to hug her.
Son: Awww she loves me!

And the hugging has never stopped. He is 7 now and every time he sees a hen do that whether its his or not he says...Momma she needs a hug.
