Hens beating up rooster

We have 11 hens and a rooster. Rir, astralorps (sic)& americannas. Rooster is a red ranger. All grew up together but hens are pecking at his jowells (don't know what to call them) always bloody he often hides in a laying box to get away from them. What's up with this? He's three times their size.

They are called wattles. Now that they are bleeding the hens will keep pecking at them. You should clean him up and cover the wounds with blu Kote or isolate him until he heals.
