I am losing a hen a month I dont know why they all seem fine. There coop has been cleaned. The only thing I have noticed is a hen here or there gets a poopy butt. But the 2 hens with the poopy butts are NOT the ones that have died? There is no indication that they are sick . They are happy and look really good nice red combs. And I am not sure if it matters but it seems to be my RIRs my buffs are fine . Any Ideas

Which breeds are dying? How old are they? What are you feeding them? Are they in a fenced run or do they free-range? Have you introduced anything new to the environment or any new treats or food?

My RIRs are dying they are between 2-3 years old. They are all ( all my chickens) feed crumbles the same brand. They are both free range and in run. I have given them nothing new. It is so weird!!!

Are they laying as usual? Is their poop normal? I would watch to see if the RIRs are freeranging in places the Buffs aren't. If that is the case I would take a good look at what is in the area they are ranging in.

Need more details christina...age symptoms etc.

Diana they are 2-3 years old they show NO signs of sickness at all. They all free range in the same areas and there poops seem fine. They seem to be laying fine I have 20 hens and I am getting about 14 eggs a day.

Thanks

Christina...next time send one in for a necropsy... it is the only way you will know for sure... sorry I cant be of more help but with sudden death (no sign of illness before death) it could be something like a toxin or plant or such which might be slowly eroding an organ... something in the water like an algae or such or perhaps a toxic weed seed ... I am sorry I cant offer you anything more specific.
