I have a nearly yr old wyandotte. About five days ago I found her on her side in the coop. She was unable to hold her self up. I brought her in gave her water (didn't drink much) gave her scrambled eggs. Pretty soon she was looking pretty ok and I put her back out in her coop. She had seemed ok but still not great balance for the last few days. Tonight I found her down again completly unable to walk and seems she had been down for a bit. Here is the crazy part. I have lost several other pullets/hens/rooster to these same symptoms. I even had one sent off for necropsy. Results came back very vague. Nothing really to cause over a handfull of deaths. No Mericks or other things like that. My farm vet said take all my chickens out of the coop and run. Do a bleach soultion spray down. I went at least 5- 8 months with no deaths. But last july the same symptoms popped back up and I lost a silkie. A month ago I lost a young Wyandotte hen but she had died very suddenly and I hoped it was something random. Thier feet seem to curl and not work. They will seem mentally alert for many days even when they can't walk any more. I usally have to cull them as they can't live comfortably. Any one have anything like this.

No treats this time of year, All my wyandottes are from the same batch/ hatchery. I have lost birds to these symptoms from various batches. First bird I lost was a unknown origin and unknown age so I blamed it on old age. From there its been birds from several different hatcheries.

Interesting. Have you tried changing feed brands at all? Did you give B vitamins to those showing symptoms?
I have done one other feed brand recently Nutreana NatureWise. What would have be vitamins in it? I do have some Poultry Nutridrench.

NatureWise is a good brand and I, personally, would switch to it for at least a few months to rule out the feed being a problem. For severe cases of vitamin deficiency, experts here (I am not one of them; I will tag some) recommend giving human-grade vitamin tablets orally to make sure they are getting the high dose they need.

Nutri-drench does have b vitamins so youre good to go!
It does not appear to contain B2 (Riboflavin) which is what is needed to treat Curled Toe Paralysis.
