I've had this same line of chickens for a long time except for the cuckoo maranas that I just got in Feb .
I was resigned to the fact that I had to incubate the eggs to keep the line going , I had been farming
the hatching out on halves with a buddy of mine ,but he had to move away so I've been trying to get
an incubator going and teach myself how to do it. Lo and behold one of my black sex link hens went broody
she wasn't all that good 7 eggs 2 chicks ( better than my last incubator run ) now another RIR cross
is setting on the same nest on 2 golf balls , so I gave her 7 eggs today and took the golf balls out .
They have gone wild if they want to hatch golf balls , also had 1 loose ( not kept in the pen )
bantam to hatch 9 and another setting on 11 now , I may not need an incubator .
