I have 6 American Game hens, 2 RIR, 1 RIR Rooster. For the last couple months since I got all the birds they have been laying 5 to 6 eggs a day very consistantly. Last Tuesday I pick up a American Game rooster and put him in a spare pin right next to the others. He was wanting to fight with my RIR rooster through the fence so I put him in a smaller single pin a couple of feet away so the Game roo couldnt go up to the fence. Since the day after takeing the Game roo home i've been getting 0,1, or 2 eggs a day the most. Does anyone think that was enough going on to stress my hens?

How are things on the Teche?

I agree with Ddawn. They don't like change and any stress can put them off laying for a while.

Also, I trust you know that Game roosters tend to not be tolerant of other roosters and will often fight to the death. It may be possible that your RIR and the game will reach an accomodation if you put them together, but it will be very risky. Good liuck!!

Yea I'm not gonna mix them I like my RIR roo to much to take the chance. I actually borrowed the Game roo with intenions of mating him with my game hens. but its gonna me more troulble than its worth, lol. I can keep the game roo if I want and I thought about it because they are such pretty birds. I may just build him a small enclosed coop if I keep him. Also yesterday I started feeding my hens oyster shells and put one ceramic egg in each box incase there eating there eggs. but I seem to think its just stress, I guess time will tell.
