Hen's leg has a cut - not really an emergency

Today my dad found a cut on our Light Brahma's leg. We treated it (Vaseline, Vetericyn, Band-Aids), and she's doing fine. No limping or anything but there was quite a bit of blood. We're trying to find the cause of this.

Pictures would be very helpful. Did you seperate her from the others? The sight of blood generally stimulates chickens to peck at the wound which in turn will make it worse.

It's possible that she may have cut her leg on wire or something

She might have cut it on a nail, some sharp plastic, or something. We washed off most of the blood and bandaged it up nicely - I can't post pictures right now, but she's doing well!
