Hens or cockerels 🐓

Hey,

These are our 4 week old pekin bantams we’ve hatched.

Interested to know people’s thoughts on whether they are hens or cockerels ?

Hello, 1, 3, 5, and 8 all look like cockerels to me. Possibly number 7 as well. 2, 4, and 6 appear to be pullets. I'm not always the best at guessing at this age, so I'm curious to see what others say.

I agree with 1, 3, 5, and 8 being cockerel-y. I wouldn’t plan their funerals until male-specific feathers come in though cause I have been fooled before

1,3, and 8 look very rooster-like.

The stance says it all! they look like theyre saying, "put me down! dont you know im a big strong roo!?"

But either way keep a eye out for any of them. Goodluck!

its hard to tell but compared to the other ones it does have a large tail and comb,

id watch it closely and be prepared if it is a rooster!

How old? Under 12ish weeks I'd vote male on the white one, and the "barred rock" (not sure if I'm right on the breed) comb looks a bit darker than I'd expect to see on a pullet under 12 weeks.

I have a 19 week old cockerel that likes a good scratch, but acts all flustered if the girls are watching, lol.

The two lighter ones are defiantly cockerels. The "barred rock", now I see is an EE (or Olive Egger) with the muffs . . . . is harder for me be to be certain. The smaller comb types throw me off, but it's darker than I expect to see on a pullet the same age, wait for others to weigh in.
