When we got our chick babies we were told about the trick to find out if they're male or female (holding them upside down). We had 2 that fought to get up....now that they are all over a year old, they all are laying eggs and MOST of them look the part of a rooster (pointy tail feathers, large, red wattles and combs....is it possible for our hens to look so much like a rooster?

Yes. Some of our hens have big combs and wattles but are laying eggs. You'll know if you have a rooster. They usually have very large combs and wattles. Plus, they crow. (Duh.)

Thank you for the prompt response. I didn't realize that hens could have the large wattle and combs as well.....no crowing, kinda thought 1 was trying ...kinda making a coughing noise but she stopped.
