Hens squishing roo on roost

This evening right after I closed the run, i heard copius squawking, flapping and muttering and saw my silkie roo’s butt squished against the little window i recently installed in the coop. I opened the side door to the coop and all 4 hens were sitting on about 2 feet of roost (they have 8 feet total) as far away from the exit to the run as is possible, and the poor roo was making sad squawks and barely visible under big red cinnamon queen and buff fluff butts. There was nothing (no other animal) in the run. They eventually calmed down, but why?!
