My 4 girls are not coming out of the coop all day since the weather got cold. We are in California so it gets into the mid 30s at night put in the 40s and 50s during the day so not that cold. Should I be concerned?

I live in California and my hens are fine I would give them some corn as a treat so they stay warm .

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. If their food and water is outside the coop, then they will venture outside, unless they have had a scare from a potential predator.

More generally, you'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

All the best

Welcome!

CTKen has given you some good links. Unfortunately, living in Aus, lower temperatures are not something I have experience with. However, knowing chickens as I do, it is amazing what they will do for food

I hope you enjoy BYC. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
