Hens turning into ROOs ***Pic Added***

wow really thats kinda of neat but why?

im not sure why but it happens alot

I have only hens and one of my hens is dominant but she still lays, I have never had mature roosters and I haven't yet had a Rooish hen.

OP I had an EE "Hen" crow at 25 weeks!! as his sister started laying their first eggs. It's kind of funny because he looked just like yours.

I have a black sex link that started crowing recently. Crows in the morning then goes and lays...lol. She's gender confused but we love her.

OH MY...DH said hens would/could crow and I doubted him. MR Dolly is defiantly a Roo cus right after crowing he mated with my hen Shadow. Showed me all at once he was a boy NOT a hen. LOL

i've actually heard from a chicken expert that actually if there is no roo or if there was one but now its gone. hens can actually go through a sex change. i didn't truly understand her but she said that something goes on in their body chemicaly that changes them completly! she said sometimes hens that go through this can even mate with other hens!!!??? weird right?

Well kinda- they start producing the male hormones they would never be fertail as males but would display all other male characteristics ...

Birds the male has ZZ the female has ZW so in a rooish hen the hormones are overriding her W chromosomes sometimes but not always causing a stop in egg production.
