I have hens that lay everyday and only take one day off theyre great eggs the yellowist yolks ive ever seen however my hens never sit on their EGGS is it bc theyre young and dont know to sit on them? The eggs get so cold i dont see why they dont sit on the eggs

It may have to do with their breed. Some breeds just don't set. And it could be their age, how old are they?

Mine don't sit on their eggs either, I thought they only did that when they went broody. My girls sit long enough to lay the egg then off they go.

theyre 8~9 months mine too! they plop out that egg and run away

What breed are they? Also, they're getting old enough that they may go broody as the weather warms us in the spring.

I hope its jsut their age bs i want to let them sit and hatch some when it gets warmer. i have 2 rir 2 black hen sorp i think not sure and muts

I have Silver Laced Wyandottes, Black Australorp, Plymoth White Rocks, California Whites, EE, and ummm oh a bantam english game hen.

I had one Partridge Rock that went broody and one BR that tried, but I broke her of it.

I'm getting a 1588 soon.

I'm going to have to find people to buy chickens or give some of the "less better looking ones" away!

Son #4 really wants to get rid of a couple of our BRs

i have four bantys but they havent started laying one banty hen is a year and has never layed an egg whats up with that???
