Hi everyone!
I'm a first time chicken raiser with my first batch of chicks just hitting about 8 weeks old. I currently have Old English Game bantams and 6 Jersey Giant pullets. I have wanted chickens for years and this spring I finally pulled the trigger on adding them to my small homestead.
I also raise quail and rabbits for eggs, meat, and fur, and am an avid gardener. I do canning, pickling (finally trying lacto fermentation this year!), drying, and smoking as well.
I am coming at homesteading from a historical perspective, since I do a lot of hobby research into 950s England, specifically textiles, food, and small farming practices.
I am mostly here to read and learn and be able to share my victories and defeats with people who understand why I am so enraptured with these feathery little dinosaurs.
