I'm not new but asking that I introduce myself.
We started with two Silkie Show chickens for the State Fair a few years ago. My daughter wanted another animal project besides her pig. We ended up not showing chickens. Just tooo much.
Then we bought 2 day old hatchling chicks, Black Sex Links. They are huge chickens. We love the jumbo eggs but didn't have enough to share.
The next year we decided to get two more day olds, this time Golden Sex Links. Much smaller chickens.
Last week we lost our oldest show silkie chicken. She was 5 years old. Her friend is doing well but keeps looking for her.
We are in the process of building a new hutch.
