I went out this morning to do chicken chores....feed water, move chickens to new pens...and on my way back to the house, I hear my neighbor girl call out. She was standing by the lane..waveing her hands, and pointing to the ground. There in the snow, by the tree is a poor guinea. I know it belongs to the other neighbor man. I started to walk up, and the guinea didnt move. Uh oh. NOT a good sign. So the neighbor girl grabs it, and hands it to me. The poor thing didnt put up a fight. I started looking it over..and see there is a large scrape on the right side of its head..and feathers falling out. Hmmm, maybe hit by a car? No puncture wounds...no bleeding. So, she is now resting in the rabbit hutch...clean straw...good feed and water. Later I will go out and try to look her over better. I didnt want to stress her too much. These guineas of his, are free range...no shelter. Should I bring it in and give it heat? I mean, would that stress the poor bird more?
