Beyond that it doesn't matter.

Prime first, though. Really truly. It makes a BIG difference in how long the paint lasts before needing scraping/sanding/repainting.

Have fun,

Pat

OK,Thanks, I'm using chicken wire for the run area and putting 1/2 inch hardware wire about 3 feet up. would that make it stronger? because ive heard that chicken wire isnt that strong and raccoons and things can rip it open. is that true? Thanks

Reinforcing chickenwire with hardwarecloth on the lower part is probably largely a waste of money - raccoons and dogs can just reach up *above* the hardwarecloth part to rip the chickenwire apart.

I'd suggest, for a budget, 2x4 welded wire (heavy gauge) with 1" or 1/2" chcikenwire inside it for the bottom 3' or so.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

ok so raccoons can go through chicken wire? and i have an update but i need to go post pics. i painted and trimmed and put the roof on!wo-hooo. now all i need to do is get different wire and make a door in the run and the little chickies have there new home:)
