I dont think thats a mallard, at least not a pure one,but still cute!
I would get him a friend if you can, ducks are social creatures and i'm sure he would want a friend.

I agree. He doesn't look like a pure mallard at all. VERY cute though.

Magpie maybe, or that A word duck that ive seen a few times and thought was a magpie. but definatly not a pure mallard. My mallard crosses dont even look like that. It could have some mallard in its line but I doubt that the father or mother are pure mallard.
