heritage turkey prices in pa

Havn't looked into your link but heritage turkey's around my area go for $7.00 / lb.

I wouldn't sell them any less then $5.00 / lb if I were you or you will lose money.

seems like alot per pound.

I am going to advertise $5 per pound and if they dont sell I guess lower it.
thanks

One reason they are expensive is because they take TWICE as long to grow as commercial turkeys (hence twice as much feed, twice as much care, twice as much overhead costs... you get the picture).

I do $3 a lb, mine free range, they have no pen once they get fully feathered. I do all the prossesing my self, to order, the mon and tue before turkey day

around here you get store bought turk for $.50 to $.75 a lb

I understand
not sure if i will find people willing to pay that when they can go to the store for less.

plan on doing my own processing.
Do you weigh them before hand? was thinking of putting them in a burlap sack to weigh so when people asked i could give them a live weight

I weigh after. when I first had turks i wasn't sure either, but if you tell as many people you can find you have them you will have more interested then you think, my DH told people at work and at the collage corse he was taking I now have regulars who preorder, but I never raise more than I can freeze or handle for friends and family, unless I don't mind holding them over winter.

My extras live in the pines all winter last winter
