Is there such a thing? The reason I ask is I have a bird who is now 5 1/2 months old. During the whole time it was growing up I swore it was a hen, and not just because when I bought this batch of birds I bought nothing but females. This week, the bird has begun to look much more like a roo. I have other roos and I could tell at just a few weeks of age that they were males. For one the development of the tail feathers on roos I have noticed is much slower then on the females.
Anyway, back to the bird in question. It's tail looks just like my hens but the comb and wattles this week have begun to look just like the comb and wattles of my RIR roo.
Is this bird just a slow developer? Hormone imbalance? Or could it be a hermaphrodite?
