So for the past few days I’ve been catching glimpses of some waterfowl fly out of my pond.
Today I got a better look at it as I was letting my dogs out and it looked like a weird duck. But it flew into a tree. Then landed on top of Peep and Nibbler’s pen and I saw it better and I believe it is a young heron. It’s heron shaped when standing and it’s not much taller than Peep.
It flew off before I could get a picture of it.
Makes sense now why for the past few nights some of the smaller frogs have been trying to get into the pen at night. Trying to get away from a predator.
My question though is how much of a threat is this heron to peep and Nibbler? Will a heron attack ducks?
Googled it and found some things saying they will attack ducks. Some saying they will only attack ducklings and not full grown ducks. Anyone have any experience?
I’m pretty confident the pen can keep it out but I like to let them free range sometimes in the afternoon and on the weekends
