Herring

Why is it no one around here sells fresh Herring???? I have checked numerous stores around my area, and they just plain don't sell it..I know they catch tons of them . Seaworld gets tons of it , you can buy pickled in the store, expensive!! I want to make my own!!! Does any one out there have any HERRING????

You may have luck finding herring in some of the asian markets. It will likely be frozen, but they may have it. Otherwise, you could probably order it from New Brunswick, CA or areas in Northeast Maine (downeast). There are LOTS of herring fisheries up there! Good luck, I have a love/hate relationship with Pickled Herring.

You know I never thought about the Asian markets. I will have to check around. I love, love, love pickled herring, and would like to make some of my own. i found a place up Northeast , but they only sell lg. quantities wholesale. I keep looking. Thanks
