Okay I have a pair of Cochins I am not sure of their age, I got them as a pair and both are supposed to be the same age. The Rooster is doing his part of the breeding does this mean that she should be at the laying stage? Basically if they are old enough to breed are they old enough to lay?

Roos generally start to breed a little younger then hens begin laying. Your hen will begin to lay around 18-25 weeks of age, while roosters may begin breeding at only 10 weeks.
